Gates open for Saturday's game at 5:30 p.m., and all fans in attendance will receive a limited edition Hurricanes hat presented by PNC. The snapback hat features the Hurricanes primary logo on the front and the 20th Anniversary logo on the side. Parking lots will open at 2:30 p.m., and fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. for the 2017-18 team introductions.
During the game, the Hurricanes will unveil the 20th Anniversary Team as selected by a panel comprised of Hurricanes broadcasters, hockey operations staff, and front office staff who have each been a part of the organization for more than 15 years. Fans are also encouraged to stop by the Kids 'N Community Foundation kiosk, located outside of section 129, to purchase exclusive Opening Night Mystery Pucks. The pucks are signed by players on the Hurricanes' opening night roster and are available for $30 each. The pucks are limited edition, with only 250 available.
Following the game, fans of all ages are invited to visit the ice to have their picture taken in front of the lowered video board, which will display a commemorative opening night message. Fans will enter via the top of section 115, and all participants must sign a waiver, which will be available at the promotions kiosk located outside of section 108-109. Staff will be on hand to assist in taking pictures, but all fans must provide their own camera.
FOX Sports Carolinas will broadcast Saturday's game, with coverage beginning at 6 p.m. with an extended Hurricanes LIVE pregame show. Hosted by Mike Maniscalco and Shane Willis, the show will include interviews with Hurricanes General Manager Ron Francis and Head Coach Bill Peters, a recap of the team's offseason moves, including the acquisitions of goalie Scott Darling and the return of former Hurricanes forward Justin Williams, and an appearance by former Hurricanes player Bates Battaglia to celebrate the team's 20th anniversary.
