FOEGELE TO MAKE NHL DEBUT AGAINST OTTAWA
3:35 p.m.
Warren Foegele has memories of playing road hockey, pond hockey and mini sticks with his older brother, Reese, their own version of Hockey Night in Canada.
They'd "just try to be one of the players," Foegele recalled.
On Monday night against the Ottawa Senators, Foegele will be one of those players when he makes his National Hockey League debut with the Carolina Hurricanes.
"A little bit nervous. My first pregame skate there. A couple bad passes," he said after Monday's morning skate in Raleigh. "I'm just excited for the opportunity. I'm just ready to play. I think after the first shift things will start to settle down."
"We just want him to go out and play. Play fast, do what he does and not think too much," head coach Bill Peters said. "I know he's excited, and he should have a lot of energy."

IN THE ROOM: BILL PETERS
11:35 a.m.
Head coach Bill Peters spoke with the media after the Hurricanes' morning skate. Here are some highlights from his availability, and full video is available below.
On Warren Foegele: "He's had a real good year. First-year pro with 20-plus goals and most of them at even strength. Good on the penalty kill and lots of speed. We'll see it here tonight at the NHL level."
On expectations for Foegele in his NHL debut: "We don't want to overload him. We just want him to go out and play. Play fast, do what he does and not think too much. I know he's excited, and he should have a lot of energy."
On if Foegele will play on the penalty kill: "Yep. Well, hopefully not. Hopefully we don't take [a penalty]."
On Foegele earning a recall in his first professional season: "It's real good. He's earned it. He had a real good year last year as a 20-year-old in Erie. Ended up dominating in the playoffs on a real good team, and he hasn't slowed down. It's a good opportunity to see him."
On Saturday night's 5-2 win in Ottawa: "We got better as the game went along. I didn't think we were great execution-wise early, but once we got our feet moving a little bit better, we had the puck more. We've got to be able to get through the neutral zone. … Once we started playing fast, I thought we were good."
On Valentin Zykov's performance: "He's been good. We'll see as we continue down the path. There are some things he needs to work on, for sure; every young guy does. But he's been solid in the three games he's played here this year."
On the forward lines: "There's good balance and everyone is finding a way to contribute. We're getting depth scoring, which is nice."

CANES, SENS SET FOR REMATCH
12:00 a.m.
Two nights after squaring off in Ottawa, the Senators and Carolina Hurricanes are set for a rematch to close out their home-and-home series in Raleigh.
The Hurricanes took round one of this set by a score of 5-2. Five different players scored for the Canes, who brought a 2-1 lead into the third period before building on it and sealing the win with an empty-net goal in the waning minutes.
"The effort was good. I thought we got better as the game went along," head coach Bill Peters said. "We built a game. In the first period, Wardo made some big saves for us, and then we got better."
Phil Di Giuseppe was one of the Canes' five goal scorers, and he added an assist on Jeff Skinner's third period goal to finish with multi-point efforts in back-to-back games. Di Giuseppe has recorded five points (2g, 3a) in his last two games, and the Canes are 5-1-0 this season when he notches a point.
"Lindy and Phil are playing well. It's nice to click with them, and hopefully we can keep it going," Skinner said of his linemates. "Phil has had a couple real good games."
Valentin Zykov recorded a pair of assists in the win for his second straight multi-point game, as well.
"He's been exactly as advertised. Big body who goes to the net. He makes plays," Peters said. "He makes real good plays with the puck. He's got some pretty good hockey sense to him, and he should only get better as he gets comfortable in the National Hockey League."
Noah Hanifin returned to game action in Ottawa after missing the team's previous three games with a concussion. Hanifin tapped in a nice cross-crease feed from Sebastian Aho in the third period, the goal that proved to be the game-winner for the Canes.
"Hani's goal was big. Sebastian did a great job moving his feet in the offensive zone and finding him to get a big goal for us," Skinner said. "Then we had a little bit of breathing room, and we were able to get one pretty soon after."
Warren Foegele is the latest Checker to join the big club in Raleigh. The 21-year-old forward was recalled on Sunday evening, and he's had quite the rookie season in Charlotte. Foegele has registred 42 points (26g, 16a) in 65 games, ranking tied for seventh in the AHL and first among league rookies in goals.
CANESPR NOTES: The Hurricanes' win in Ottawa on Saturday clinched the season series victory, the team's seventh in the last nine seasons. A win on Monday would complete the three-game sweep. … The Hurricanes are 19-6-5 against the Senators in their last 30 meetings. … Cam Ward is 9-1-2 in his last 12 games against Ottawa.
