GIONTA: Discussing the NHL bye week
by Brian Gionta @Giostyle21 / Sabres.com
Before the Sabres took off for the bye week, Brian Gionta shared his thoughts with Sabres.com on what the week off has meant for the schedule and how the team was able to get through its stretch of 11 games in 18 days.
I'm not quite sure how I feel about the bye week yet. I'm kind of on the fence. It compresses the schedule a lot in another areas, so I'm not sure if the five-day break makes up for not having the two or three days we normally have between games every once in a while.

BAILEY: Scoring my 1st goal on the road
by Justin Bailey @JustinBailey95 / Sabres.com
Justin Bailey scored the first goal of his career Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in a 4-1 Sabres win over the Rangers. After practice in Chicago, he shared some thoughts about how it felt to score the goal.
CHICAGO - Scoring my first NHL goal is something that's been on my mind for a long time. Since last year, it's been something I've wanted to accomplish and I went through tons of emotions last night with family, friends and all the people I thought of. It was a special feeling to see the puck go in the net.
BURGDOERFER: My first NHL road trip
by Erik Burgdoerfer @E_Burgy / Sabres.com
Defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer shares the experience of his first NHL recall after playing 480 minor-league games.
When you're on a bus from Bakersfield, Cali. to Salt Lake City, Utah, there are times when you start to think: "What am I doing right now?"
Those were the times when I thought I'd never receive the phone call that I received on Sunday, when I was told I was being recalled to Buffalo Sabres. I mean, I played in the ECHL for four full seasons. When you're 25 years old and you only have a handful of AHL games under your belt, the childhood dream of playing in the NHL can feel a long ways away.
OKPOSO: Thanksgiving in Washington
by Kyle Okposo @bookerT2116 / Sabres.com
Sabres forward Kyle Okposo shares what it's like to spend Thanksgiving on the road with the team in Washington.
I ate turkey at 11 a.m. on my first Thanksgiving Day in Buffalo. It's a bit early, I know, but it was a practice day, and we had a game to get ready for the next night in Washington, D.C. The family time, the turkey, the stuffing with gravy (that's my personal favorite) - we had to squeeze all of that in at the beginning of the day.
