Pouliot looking forward to fresh start with Sabres

by Jourdon LaBarber @jourdonlabarber / Sabres.com

After sending Tyler Ennis and Marcus Foligno to Minnesota in the deal that got them Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville on Friday, the Sabres have begun to replenish their depth on the left wing with the addition of former Edmonton Oiler Benoit Pouliot.

The Sabres signed Pouliot to one-year, $1.15 million contract on Saturday. It was the team's second move of free agency, following the return of goalie Chad Johnson

Here's a closer look at the signing.

Ten years later, we look back at the line brawl between the Sabres and Senators; Beyond Blue and Gold is presented by New Era

We should do a BBG for the 10th anniversary of the Ottawa Brawl

When it was first suggested, I hesitated, wondering if we could possibly do such a memorable moment justice in the few short weeks of production time dedicated to a typical episode of Beyond Blue and Gold

Sharpen Up: March 5, 2017

by Chris Ryndak @ChrisRyndak / Sabres.com

Jack Eichel's point streak has been impressive to watch over the last nine games. He has yet to record a point in three career games against Pittsburgh so if he wants to keep the streak alive (like that 2003 rom-com starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton) something's gotta give.

In the time since his Nov. 29 return from an injury that sidelined him for 21 games, Eichel ranks 14th among all NHL skaters with 41 points (15+26) and leads the league with 175 shots on goal.

After last night's game, Eichel was tied with Dallas' Jamie Benn for most points since the beginning of February (20) and led all NHL players with 17 assists during that timeframe.

Eichel's point streak is the longest by a Sabre since Tim Connolly tallied points in 16 straight from Dec. 23, 2009 to Jan. 25, 2010.

Here's what you need to know.

BBG Bonus: Mr. and Mrs. Foligno

Marcus Foligno used to catch frogs with his future wife when they were kids. How adorable is that? Beyond Blue and Gold is presented by New Era

First and foremost, a huge thank you to all who have gone out of their way to mention to us how much they enjoyed the original "Maturation of Marcus" episode.

To say we were well-looked after for a couple of sunny summer days in Sudbury, Ontario would be an understatement.
