In partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex will host a Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) regular-season game on January 14. Puck drop for the matchup between the Connecticut Whale and Montreal Force is set for 3:00 PM in Cranberry Township, PA.

Tickets for the game are available now here. The game will stream live across the United States exclusively on ESPN+, and in Canada at TSN.ca and on the TSN app.
"The Penguins are honored to host the Connecticut Whale and Montreal Force of the Premier Hockey Federation at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex," said Penguins President of Business Operations Kevin Acklin. "Showcasing these elite players in Pittsburgh is yet another opportunity for us to inspire our local girls hockey players and grow the sport of ice hockey, not just locally, but across the country."
The Whale, one of the PHF's Founding Four franchises, will play host to the Force, the league's newest expansion team. Connecticut will pay homage to the Pittsburgh Pennies, Pittsburgh's first professional women's hockey team that was founded in 1972, by wearing throwback jerseys based off of the original Pennies' uniforms. Six members of the original Pennies team will also be on-site to participate in a ceremonial puck drop.
"This is another great opportunity to showcase the growth and strength of our league to a new market," said Whale General Manager Alexis Moed. "The visibility of our sport is paramount to our future success and with the support of the Penguins we are thrilled to reach a new audience. By bringing professional women's hockey to Pittsburgh we hope to excite and inspire the next generation of hockey players and fans."
Established in 2015 as the National Women's Hockey League, the NWHL rebranded to become the PHF in 2021 and maintains the mission to provide strong role models and fuel the continued growth of the sport. The league is made up of the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale, Metropolitan Riveters, Minnesota Whitecaps, and the Toronto Six who all compete annually for the Isobel Cup.
