This marks the second-straight year that the NHL with go with a 3-on-3 format for the All-Star Game, with each division its own team. Each division will have 11 players on its roster (6 forwards; 3 defensemen; 2 goalies).
Crosby has the Penguins currently in second place in the NHL's overall standings by keying a season-high six-game winning streak where Pittsburgh has scored a league-best 35 goals.
Crosby, who has goals in four-straight games and points in eight-consecutive contests, leads the league in goals (21), points per game (1.39) and shooting percentage (26.9%), and sits second overall in points (32, tied) and power-play goals (7, tied).
Since missing the first six games of the season due to a concussion, Crosby has scored 21 goals in 23 games, becoming just the fourth NHL player in the past 20 years to score at least that many times in his first 23 games of a season.
On Wednesday night, the Penguins will host the Boston Bruins at 7:30 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena. The game will be nationally broadcast on NBC Sports Network.
