The Series So Far...

  • Game 1: Nikolaj Ehlers got the Canes off to a flying start, but Tomas Hertl's late go-ahead goal gave the Golden Knights the first win of the Final.
  • Game 2Seth Jarvis played hero in overtime to cap off a multi-goal comeback and even the series with a 4-3 victory.

Home Away From Home...

  • As the battle heads west, the Canes are a flawless 6-0 on the road this postseason.
  • Taking two wins in Ottawa, Philadelphia, and Montreal, the group has outscored its foes 20-8 during the half-dozen games away from Lenovo Center. During those showings, they've outshot their opponents by an average of 35-19.

Shayne's Shining...

  • Since being held off the scoresheet for the first six games of the playoffs, Shayne Gostisbehere has points in six of his last nine. His latest effort, a two-assist showing in Game 2, extended his active point streak to five games (3G, 4A) — the second-longest by a Hurricane this postseason, trailing only Taylor Hall's postseason-opening six-game run.
  • Crucially, Gostisbehere's back-to-back apples on Thursday were primary helpers on the power play, kick-starting what had been a sputtering man advantage as the Canes completed their late comeback. The Pembroke Pines, Fla. native leads the team in power-play points this postseason with six, good for second among all NHL blueliners in the playoffs.
  • Gostisbehere's nine total points in 15 games are tied with K'Andre Miller for the team lead among defensemen and matched his career high for a single postseason, set in 2024-25. Only four players in franchise history have recorded more during a single playoff run: Frantisek Kaberle (13 in 05-06), Bret Hedican (11 in 05-06), Jaccob Slavin (11 in 18-19) and Tony DeAngelo (10 in 21-22).

In Net...

  • For just the third time this postseason, Frederik Andersen was dinged for more than two goals in Game 2. Although Vegas found its way to obtain three, the veteran backstop turned away 23, including a crucial pair in the third period, to get back in the win column.
  • Brandon Bussi would likely be the next expected option in the event Andersen needs a break. The first-year backstop wrapped up the regular season on a heater, following up his first set of consecutive losses (0-3-0) with a 6-0-1 run and allowing two or fewer goals in four of those wins.
  • Pyotr Kochetkov also remains waiting in the wings. Although he made two conditioning loan starts with Chicago (AHL) in April, following multiple lower-body surgeries this winter, his last NHL action came on Dec. 20.

On The Other Side...

  • Spoiling a multi-goal lead in the third period of Game 2, Vegas still heads back to T-Mobile Arena having stolen home-ice advantage for the time being. Mark Stone referred to turnovers as the culprit of his team's collapse, while former Hurricane Noah Hanifin credited his old club's high-pressure style for flipping the script on Thursday.
  • "(Carolina) brought it at the end of the game there. We had a two-goal lead, and they started pressuring all over the ice," said Hanifin. "I thought all game we did a good job of just creating battles along the walls and handling that (pressure), but we just got away from it a little bit for a few minutes, and they capitalized..."
  • Up front, Brett Howden's postseason-leading 12th and 13th tallies led the way for Vegas in a tightly contested Game 2. His playoff breakout now boasts more goals than he had all regular season, three of which have come in the Stanley Cup Final.
  • The status of defenseman Brayden McNabb, who left the game during Thursday's first period after taking a Nikolaj Ehlers' slap shot to the face, is unknown. Head Coach John Tortorella said McNabb would travel back with the team, but gave no indication as to his status for Game 3.

Injury Updates...

  • The Canes currently do not have any injuries at this time.
