PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
THE QUICK HITS:
Last Time Out:After trailing 2-0 at the end of the first period, the Canes rallied to pull off a 3-2 victory in overtime against the Pittsburgh Penguins Friday. Jordan Staal had a multi-goal game for the first time this season and Andrei Svechnikov recorded the game-winner on the power play in overtime. Antti Raanta was the winning netminder, going 14/14 after the opening 20 minutes.
500 For Turbo:Teuvo Teravainen is expected to play in his 500th career NHL game tonight. After starting his career playing 115 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, "Turbo" has played 384 since being acquired by the Hurricanes in June of 2016. In those 384 he has totaled 94 goals and 211 assists for a total of 305 points.
800 For Step?:Should Derek Stepan be in the lineup tonight, it will be his 800th National Hockey League game. He played 515 with the New York Rangers, 224 with the Arizona Coyotes, 20 with the Ottawa Senators and thus far this season 40 with the Canes.
Captain's Getting Hot:After starting the year with just two goals and eight assists in the team's first 36 games of the season, Jordan Staal now has five goals in his last seven games. He also has 11 points in his last 17 games.
Enter The Lyon's Den:Goaltender Alex Lyon was recalled under emergency conditions Saturday night from the Chicago Wolves. An update is expected from Rod Brind'Amour following the team's morning skate. The team will skate at 10:30 a.m.
Offense From Defense:A big part of Carolina's success has been their contributions from the blue line. The team's defensemen have combined for the third-most points league-wide since the start of the season and also recorded 70 points in 25 games in 2022.
A Look At The Other Side:Seattle comes to Raleigh as the second half of a back-to-back. Saturday night they fell behind 2-0 in the first period to the Caps, but they did manage to come back and knot the game in the second period. Unfortunately Washington would take over from there, scoring the next three en route to their other 5-2 victory. Chris Driedger was in net for the Kraken, allowing four goals on 20 shots.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
More Milestones: Derek Stepan is one point shy of 500 for his NHL career.
What Are We Wearing?:The team will be wearing their black sweaters tonight.
