The Carolina Hurricanes headed to Fort Bragg, NC, for a belated Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
Fort Bragg
- which is the largest military installation in the world by population - is located just outside of Fayetteville, NC, and is home to the U.S. Army Forces Command and the United States Army Special Operations Command.
Here is a collection of photos from the squad's day on base.

Upon arrival at the installation, the team stopped for lunch at the 82nd Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade Dining Facility. The Canes joined three Gold Star family members - Mark and Whitney Hunter, father and wife (respectively) of the late SGT Jonathan Hunter (82nd Airborne), and Emily Piotrowski, wife of SPC Joshua Piotrowski (82nd Airborne) - along with Brig. Gen. Bill Fletcher and Col. Kyle Reed.

But it wasn't all pomp and circumstance. Andrei Svechnikov and Brett Pesce found themselves right at home among a handful of hungry soldiers.

And they weren't the only ones meeting the troops.

Following lunch, the Canes headed to the Virtual Training Facility, where the team received instruction and was able to participate in simulated combat scenarios.

At the end of the day, the Hurricanes walked away from Fort Bragg with new friendships, fresh perspectives on and respect for the military life and experience, and a renewed sense of pride in the community around them. Also MREs (Meals Ready to Eat).

Thank you always to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting the country and freedoms we love and enjoy every day. Once again, happy belated Veterans Day.
