RALEIGH, NC. -Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed forward Felix Unger Sorum to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will pay Unger Sorum $775,000 at the NHL level and $82,500 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level through 2025-26. He will also receive a signing bonus of $255,000.

"Felix is a dynamic playmaker with great offensive instincts," said Waddell. "He was one of the youngest players in the draft, and we're excited to see how he continues to improve and develop."

Unger Sorum, 17, spent most of the 2022-23 season in Sweden's top junior league, recording 46 points (10g, 36a) in 42 games with Leksands IF's under-20 team and tying for the team lead in assists. He also tallied four points (3g, 1a) in two games at the under-18 level and skated in his first seven Swedish Hockey League (SHL) games with Leksands IF, making his SHL debut against Lulea on Jan. 3. The 5'11", 170-pound right wing registered nine points (4g, 5a) in seven playoff games with the under-20 team, finishing second on the team in points and tied for first in goals during the postseason. Unger Sorum added six points (3g, 3a) in five playoff games with Leksands IF's under-18 squad, ranking tied for third on the team in points and tied for second in goals. Born in Trondheim, Norway, he represents Sweden internationally and won a silver medal at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, tallying 10 points (2g, 8a) in seven games. Unger Sorum was selected by Carolina in the second round, 62nd overall, of the 2023 NHL Draft.
