Frequently Asked Questions

How can I watch or stream Carolina Hurricanes games live?

Where you live determines which option applies:

  • In the Hurricanes' broadcast territory (in-market): Local Hurricanes games will stream on Prime Video with a Hurricanes Hockey Network subscription and are available via additional distributors like DIRECTV, Fubo and Spectrum.
  • Elsewhere in the U.S. (out-of-market): Local Hurricanes broadcasts are available to stream on ESPN+, or through NHL Center Ice, a subscription package you buy from a participating TV provider.
  • Outside the US: Hurricanes games are televised and streamed by a rightsholder in most countries. See the how to watch NHL games by country guide.

National Hurricanes games on ESPN, ABC, TNT, or ESPN+ are available to all US fans regardless of location, through any TV or streaming service that carries those networks.

What channel are the Hurricanes on tonight?

During the regular season, the channel and streaming options for each Carolina Hurricanes game change from night to night. Most local Canes games are broadcast on the Hurricanes Hockey Network, which is available to stream through Prime Video, as well as additional distributors like DIRECTV, Fubo and Spectrum. National NHL games featuring the Hurricanes air on ESPN, ABC, TNT, or ESPN+.

To find tonight's channel and streaming options, check the Carolina Hurricanes' schedule, which lists the TV network and streaming service for every game.

Where can I find the Hurricanes' broadcast schedule?

The Carolina Hurricanes' schedule lists the TV network, streaming service, and start time for every game this season. Each listing shows whether the game is a local broadcast on the Hurricanes Hockey Network or a national broadcast on ESPN, ABC, TNT, or ESPN+. The schedule also indicates which preseason games are televised or streamed.

To view the 2026-27 broadcast schedule as a downloadable PDF, click here.

Do I need cable to watch or stream Hurricanes games?

No. You do not need a cable subscription to watch or stream the Carolina Hurricanes.

Local Hurricanes games are available via a variety of traditional and streaming services, including Prime Video, DIRECTV, Fubo and Spectrum.

National Hurricanes games on ESPN, TNT, or ABC can be streamed through a live TV streaming service that carries those networks, or watched over the air with an antenna when the game is on ABC.

How do I know if I am considered in-market or out-of-market for Hurricanes games?

You are considered in-market for Carolina Hurricanes games if you live inside the team's designated broadcast territory, which covers all of North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as most of Georgia and parts of Alabama.

Fans in that territory watch local Hurricanes games on Prime Video, DIRECTV, Fubo or Spectrum. Fans outside it are out-of-market and can watch those same games by streaming ESPN+ or by buying the NHL Center Ice package from a participating TV provider.

To confirm your status, use the ZIP Code lookup tool at the top of this page, or click here to view a list of counties identified as “in market” for the Hurricanes.

Why am I seeing a blackout message for Hurricanes games on ESPN+?

Carolina Hurricanes games are blacked out on ESPN+ for fans inside the Canes' broadcast territory. ESPN+ streams local Hurricanes broadcasts only for out-of-market fans, so if you see a blackout message, you are in the Canes' market. You can watch the game instead through one of the options listed in the "in-market" section of this page.

How can I watch the Hurricanes when they are on NHL Network?

Carolina Hurricanes games shown on NHL Network are available only to out-of-market fans. If you live in the Canes' broadcast territory, that game is not on NHL Network for you — watch it on Prime Video, DIRECTV, Fubo or Spectrum as you would any local Hurricanes broadcast. NHL Network is carried by cable and live TV streaming providers but cannot be streamed on its own without a TV provider subscription. Use the NHL Network Find My Channel page to enter your zip code and choose your TV provider to see if they carry NHL Network.

Can I watch Hurricanes games when I am traveling internationally?

Yes. Carolina Hurricanes games are available to watch and stream in most countries outside the US, though the broadcaster varies by country. See the How To Watch NHL Games By Country guide for the rights holder where you are.

Note: U.S. subscriptions to ESPN+ or Prime Video, and the NHL Center Ice package, may not work abroad because of regional broadcast rights.
