3.14.22 Chatfield

RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Jalen Chatfield to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Chatfield, 25, has recorded an AHL career-high 11 points (5g, 6a) in 30 games with Chicago this season and ranks tied for first in goals among Wolves blueliners. Chatfield has registered 28 points (7g, 21a) in 172 career AHL games with Utica and Chicago from 2017-22. The 6'1", 188-pound blueliner has also tallied three assists in 16 NHL games with the Hurricanes this season, and he has now earned four assists in 34 career NHL games with Vancouver and Carolina since debuting with the Canucks on Jan. 20, 2021. Prior to turning professional, Chatfield spent three seasons with Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2014-17, posting 86 points (19g, 67a). Chatfield served as an alternate captain in his final season with the Spitfires and helped the team capture the 2017 Memorial Cup as Canadian Hockey League (CHL) champions. Signed by Carolina as a free agent on July 30, 2021, the Ypsilanti, Mich., native signed a two-year contract extension with the Hurricanes on Jan. 21.
