RALEIGH, NC. -The Carolina Hurricanes will hold their annual Hockey Fights Cancer awareness game, presented by UNC Health, on Thursday, November 17, when the team hosts the Colorado Avalanche at 7 p.m.

Hurricanes coaches and broadcasters will wear special Hockey Fights Cancer ribbons during the game, and the team will wear special Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys during its pregame warmups. Players will also wrap their sticks with lavender tape, and helmets will showcase a Hockey Fights Cancer decal in support of the initiative. Corporate partners will show their support by changing their dasher boards to lavender for the game.
Cancer awareness, research, and support groups will be on the PNC Arena concourse to speak with fans and share their respective missions. Various groups and Hurricanes Season Ticket Members have nominated cancer survivors, patients, and individuals critical to the fight for gameday activities and recognition. Two of St. Baldrick's top local fundraisers will be shaving their heads in support of childhood cancer during the second intermission.
Four player baskets and other Hockey Fights Cancer-themed items will be auctioned off at the Carolina Hurricanes Foundation's kiosk outside of section 129. Each basket will include a player-worn Hockey Fights Cancer warm-up jersey (to be signed at a later date) as well as other Hockey Fights Cancer-themed items. The Carolina Hurricanes Foundation will also sell 250 limited-edition, Hockey Fights Cancer mystery pucks for $40 each at the kiosk outside of section 129. Each puck is signed by a Hurricanes player and comes with a certificate of authenticity and tax receipt. All proceeds benefit the Foundation.
The Carolina Hurricanes partnered with The Blood Connection to host a blood drive on Nov. 14 at PNC Arena. Eighteen units were collected during the blood drive which will help save up to 54 lives. Blood donations are incredibly important in supporting a patient's battle with cancer.

The initiative gets an assist from players, coaches, officials, broadcasters, equipment managers, front office staff, corporate partners & fans. Together, the hockey community looks to inspire hope and courage for those who are living with, going through & moving past cancer. The campaign is from November 1-November 30 with each Club hosting an awareness night between those dates.
