Subban made 29 saves in a 5-1 win against the Nashville Predators on Saturday for Vegas, which had lost three in a row and is nine points behind the San Jose Sharks for second place in the Pacific Division.
"Malcolm played a great game the other night and it's a good time to give [Marc-Andre Fleury] a little bit of a rest," Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said. "He played outstanding, so we're going to give him another shot tonight."
Colorado has lost six in a row at home, while being outscored 28-9, and is 1-6-3 in its past 10 games. The Avalanche are three points behind the Minnesota Wild for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
