At this point, most players are back home, wherever home is around the world, and most - unless they're rehabbing an injury, like Brett Pesce - are taking it easy for the time being. The pause was a black hole of uncertainty. Was play going to resume at some point? Was it the offseason? How could players best stay in shape, just in case?
Now, though there is no firm start date for the 2020-21 season, it's clear that this is the offseason. The Stanley Cup will be awarded in a month's time. The 2020 NHL Draft and free agency will follow. It's the typical offseason - it's just happening a few months later than usual. Players typically use this time in the summer to get away from the game for a bit, so that's what you'll find most doing now. Once we have a better idea of Opening Night for next season, that's when you'll start to see players ramp up their training.
