DETROIT, MI. -The Carolina Hurricanes will be without Sebastian Aho and Jesper Fast once again as they meet the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday.
Both missed Saturday's game on Long Island due to lower-body injuries and neither skated on Monday at the team's practice. Following yesterday's skate Rod Brind'Amour stressed that it was more important for both to get healthy as opposed to playing through injuries that they don't have to right now. The team's head coach has expressed within the last week that he doesn't think the injuries will keep either of the two out of the lineup long-term. Max Lajoie, who was recalled from Chicago (AHL) last week, is slated to be the team's seventh defensemen once again tonight. Behind the team's skaters, Pyotr Kochetkov will make his fourth consecutive start. The 23-year-old rookie stopped all 16 shots faced Saturday against the Islanders, earning his second NHL shutout. He is also now the only goalie in the NHL with multiple shutouts in the last calendar month. Thus far this trip he has stopped 113 out of 122 shots faced and he the Canes have earned points in 10 out of his 11 games played this season. Carolina's projected lineup for tonight's 7 p.m. EST puck drop is: Forwards: Jarvis - Stastny - Necas Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Teravainen Martinook - Staal Drury - Stepan - Noesen Defense: Slavin - Burns Skjei - Pesce de Haan - Chatfield Lajoie Goalies: Kochetkov Raanta Injuries: Sebastian Aho (Lower-Body Injury) Frederik Andersen (Lower-Body Injury) Jesper Fast (Lower-Body Injury) Ondrej Kase (Concussion Protocol) Scratches: N/A Worth A Click: Mailbag #45: Andrei Svechnikov North Carolina Night Set For January 10 Andersen Returns To Practice As Canes Get Back To Work At Home CanesCast Episode 233: Wherever The Road Takes You 2022-23 Single Game Tickets Cam Ward Named To Hurricanes Hall of Fame Vote Now For The Canes 25th Anniversary All-Time Team Sign Up To Watch Carolina Hurricanes Hockey Through Bally Sports+ Canes 2022-23 Giveaway Schedule Canes December Schedule
