Tracking The Storylines
A Chance To Be The Best: For the second time in team history the Canes have a chance to win six straight games to begin a season. Just two years ago the team also began 5-0-0, but dropped their sixth game, thus ending their streak at that time. Tonight the crew can cement their onset as the roster with the best start ever with a win.
Andersen's History of His Own:Along with making history as a part of the team's efforts above, Canes goaltender Frederik Andersen can etch his name in the league's history books with another win. Should the team emerge victorious, Andersen would become the first goaltender in NHL history to start a season 6-0-0 through the first six games with a new team. The Danish netminder also enters tonight having allowed just one goal in the club's last three games.
Svech's Start:In addition to the team game and Andersen's magnificent play, Andrei Svechnikov's nine points in five games cannot be overlooked. Sure, two of his goals have come in empty net fashion, but him being on the ice in those situations presents those opportunities. Six of the nine total points have come at even strength, which can't be discounted either.
Milestone Watch: Teuvo Teravainen is two goals shy of 100 NHL goals.
What Color Are We Wearing?: Tonight the team will be wearing their red home sweaters
