RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL) from Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Kochetkov, 22, has earned a 10-10-2 record, 2.23 goals-against average, .926 save percentage and two shutouts in 23 games with Nizhny Novgorod this season. He has established KHL career-best marks in games played, wins, goals-against average, save percentage, shutouts and assists (2) in 2021-22, and he ranks tied for sixth in save percentage (min. 15 GP) and tied for second in assists among all KHL goaltenders. The 6'3", 205-pound netminder has made 49 career KHL appearances with Sochi, St. Petersburg, Vityaz and Nizhny Novgorod from 2018-22, posting a 16-25-3 record, 2.48 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and three shutouts. In addition to his time in the KHL, Kochetkov registered an 11-13-4 record, 2.19 goals-against average, .925 save percentage and two shutouts in 33 career games with Penza, Ryazan and SKA-Neva of the VHL, Russia's second league, from 2016-20. He also made 33 appearances with Stupino and Vityaz of the MHL, Russia's top junior league, from 2017-20, posting a 7-22-3 record, 3.29 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. The Kazan, Russia, native was named Best Goaltender at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship after earning a 4-1 record, 1.45 goals-against average and .953 save percentage to help his home country capture the bronze medal. Kochetkov was selected by Carolina in the second round, 36th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft and signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Hurricanes on May 1, 2021.
