RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Dan Renouf to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Renouf, 24, was a healthy extra against the Islanders on Tuesday after being recalled from the Checkers earlier in the day. He has posted 11 points (1g, 10a) in 36 games with Charlotte this season, including a pair of shorthanded assists. The 6'3", 198-pound defenseman has tallied 40 points (6g, 34a) in 182 career AHL games with Grand Rapids and Charlotte, winning the Calder Cup with Grand Rapids in 2017. The Pickering, Ont., native played 111 games for the University of Maine from 2013-16, posting 38 points (10g, 28a). Renouf signed with the Red Wings as an undrafted free agent on March 10, 2016 and made his NHL debut for Detroit at Carolina on March 27, 2017. Renouf signed with the Hurricanes as a free agent on July 2, 2018.
