RALEIGH, N.C. - The Hurricanes are celebrating IIHF World Girls’ Hockey Weekend on Friday, October 3rd at the Lenovo Center. Started by the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2011, World Girls' Hockey Weekend provides an opportunity for girls around the world to try the sport of hockey and celebrate all who make the game great.
Itinerary of Events
5:00-5:45 p.m.: Lil’ Lady Canes Scrimmage
- 50 girls, ages 5-11 years old, will participate
- T-shirts & giveaways upon entrance for participants
6:00-7:15 p.m.: “The Storm Surge Showdown”
- Girls' high school hockey scrimmage
- Ceremonial puck drop with Canes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov
- Play-by-play from Shane Willis & Hanna Yates in between the benches
- Game day snacks & soft drinks available
- Poster-making station
- Signed items & opening night game ticket giveaways
- The Storm Surge Showdown Cup award ceremony and picture
7:15-8:00 p.m.: Open Skate
