RALEIGH, NC - The National Hockey League announced on Monday that Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward has been selected as the league's second star of the week.

Ward, 32, went 3-0-0 during the week with victories against the San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets. The Saskatoon, Sask., native made 22 saves against the Sharks on Tuesday for his first shutout of the season. He followed that up with a 32-save performance against the Canadiens on Friday before stopping 28-of-29 shots against Winnipeg on Sunday. For the week, Ward registered a 1.01 goals-against average and .964 save percentage.
The Hurricanes' first-round selection, 25th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Ward is 6-4-0 with a 2.36 goals-against average this season. Since the start of November, Ward (6'1", 185 lbs.) has gone 5-1-2, posting a 1.59 goals-against average and .944 save percentage.
