Last season was a breakout campaign for defenceman Brandon Davidson. He began to take on a bigger role on the Oilers blueline, racking up the minutes and the responsibility. Unfortunately for him, last season was cut short due to injury and this one is no different. He's played just one game in 2016-17.

But the signs for a return are good. Davidson has been skating and feels he's close to coming back.
"Things have gone really well over the last couple of weeks here," he said. "I felt I was able to get into practice here over the last few days. That's a good sign that things are moving forward. I think it's safe to say within a week or weeks kind of thing. Things are coming up here. I'm excited to get going. I missed the last little bit of last season and the start of this season so it's been a while for me. At the same time, it has been very motivating and a very good time for me to reflect and work on a few things off the ice."
