Rookie defenseman Quinn Hughes scored 42 seconds into overtime to defeat the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Saturday. The Canucks, who are in first place in the Pacific Division, have won seven of the past eight and are 14-3-0 since Dec. 19.
James Reimer will start in goal for the Hurricanes, who lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Friday. Reimer is 9-2-1 in 13 starts since Dec. 16.
Carolina is 2-3-1 in its past six games after going 5-2-0 in the previous seven.
