The Blues beat the New York Islanders 3-2 in a shootout at Barclays Center on Monday. The Rangers are coming off a 2-0 win against the Montreal Canadiens at MSG on Sunday.
Rangers defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk will play against the Blues for the first time since they traded him to the Washington Capitals on Feb. 27. Shattenkirk played parts of seven seasons (2011-17) with the Blues.
Blues goalie Carter Hutton will make his first start of the season. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and .945 save percentage in three career games against the Rangers.

Players to watch

Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has five points (two goals, three assists) and played a game-high 29:17 against the Islanders.
Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist will make his fourth consecutive start to open the season. He had a 34-save shutout against the Canadiens.

The Blues didn't have a morning skate so it's not clear if they will make any changes to the lineup they used to beat the Islanders. … Cracknell will make his Rangers debut after they acquired him on waivers from the Dallas Stars on Monday. ... The Rangers assigned rookie center Filip Chytil to Hartford of the American Hockey League on Tuesday, and released forward Andrew Desjardins from his professional tryout contract.
