He had 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in 79 games in 2017-18, playing mainly a checking role with the St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators. The Blues waived Paajarvi on Jan. 25, 2018, and the Senators claimed him the next day.

Paajarvi's best offensive season came as a rookie in 2010-11, when he had 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 80 games with the Oilers. But he failed to reach double figures goals in either of the next two seasons and was traded to the Blues for David Perron on July 10, 2014.
Paajarvi had 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists) in five seasons in St. Louis, as well as four points (one goal, three assists) in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games. His lone playoff goal came in overtime against the Minnesota Wild on April 22, 2017, and gave the Blues a five-game victory in the Western Conference First Round.
He had three goals in 10 games to help Sweden win the gold medal at the 2018 IIHF World Championship.
