Kampfer was a rookie with the Boston Bruins when they won the Stanley Cup in 2011, but you wouldn't know it from looking at the Cup, because his name was never engraved on it.
Kampfer sustained a season-ending knee injury in April and played 38 games, three shy of the number required to have his name etched into Cup lore. Despite a petition from the Bruins asking the League to include his name, Kampfer had to settle for a Stanley Cup ring and a place in the photo of the championship team.

A native of Ann Arbor, Mich., Kampfer headed to the University of Michigan before being selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round (No. 93) of the 2007 NHL Draft, following his freshman season.
Before making his pro debut, he was traded to the Bruins on March 2, 2010, and signed a three-year contract. After spending the remainder of the 2009-10 season with Providence of the American Hockey League, Kampfer made his NHL debut on Dec. 9, 2010, against the New York Islanders.
Kampfer immediately became a regular in the Bruins defensive rotation, averaging 17:44 of ice time per game, and he had his first NHL point in his third game, Dec. 15, 2010, against the Buffalo Sabres. He scored his first NHL goal on Dec. 28, 2010, against the Tampa Bay Lightning, before being traded to the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 27, 2012.
He spent the next two seasons in the AHL before signing a one-year contract with the New York Rangers on July 1, 2014, but on Oct. 6, 2014, the Rangers traded Kampfer to the Florida Panthers.
