TEAMMATES AFFECTED BY RECENT MOVES
Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri, NJD -- The New Jersey Devils were the biggest winners from 2019 NHL Draft weekend, acquiring elite fantasy defenseman P.K. Subban and selecting center prospect Jack Hughes with the No. 1 pick. This infusion of talent for New Jersey, which missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, boosts elite left wing Taylor Hall's bounce-back candidacy and makes right wing Kyle Palmieri, who has averaged nearly 19 power-play points per season over the past five (94 in past 355 games), a potential steal in later rounds. With Hughes' landing spot finally set in stone, he slots into the top 65 forward rankings.
Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, NYR -- The additions of wing Kaapo Kakko (No. 2 pick in draft) and valuable defenseman Jacob Trouba (acquired from Winnipeg Jets on June 17) have significantly improved the New York Rangers' team fantasy outlook for next season. The obvious beneficiary is veteran goalie Henrik Lundqvist, but New York's top forwards, Zibanejad and Kreider, have a chance to match or expand on their production from this season, a full-on rebuilding year for New York. Zibanejad, who's coming off a NHL career-high 74 points, and Kreider, a potential 2020 unrestricted free agent who was among the top 75 fantasy finishers, are worth stacking with their potential linemate Kakko in mid-to-late rounds.
Jakub Voracek and James van Riemsdyk, PHI-- The Philadelphia Flyers boosted their center depth by trading for and signing center Kevin Hayes, who combined for a NHL career-high 55 points this season with the Winnipeg Jets and New York Rangers. Valuable wings Jakub Voracek and James van Riemsdyk, who's back among the top 100 forwards, now have more secondary scoring help, making each worth targeting in their first season under new coach Alain Vigneault. The Flyers are a potential dark horse team in the Eastern Conference, but fantasy owners should also be aware that their three best forwards (Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Voracek) are ranked among the top 50 at the position.
Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser and Bo Horvat, VAN -- The Vancouver Canucks acquired versatile forward J.T. Miller from the Tampa Bay Lightning and are likely to slot him into a top-six role with either Pettersson or Bo Horvat. Vancouver's forward group is also equipped with right wing Brock Boeser and will have a valuable defenseman in either rookie Quinn Hughes or veteran Alexander Edler, who re-signed with Vancouver on June 20, on the first power play. Miller, who had inconsistent even-strength usage this season with the Lightning but played on the first power play (20 power-play points), is the favorite to be the fourth forward on the top unit in Vancouver and has cracked the top 100 forward list with sleeper potential. This edition of the rankings also brings upward movement for Pettersson, Boeser and Horvat.
