The Blues trail the Dallas Stars by five points for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the West and have two games in hand. St. Louis also trails the Colorado Avalanche by five points for the first wild card. The Avalanche are the first wild card because they have a game in hand on the Stars and have three more regulation/overtime wins.
The Rangers trail the New Jersey Devils by nine points for the second wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference. New York is 5-2-1 in its past eight games after going 0-6-1 the previous seven.

Players to watch

Rangers left wing Ryan Spooner has 13 points (two goals, 11 assists) in nine games with New York since he was acquired in a trade from the Boston Bruins on Feb. 25.
Blues left wing Jaden Schwartz has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past seven games and has five points (two goals, three assists) in his past six games against the Rangers.
