Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl, who missed the past four games with an eye injury and concussion-like symptons, is expected to play. He was activated from injured reserve after the morning skate.

Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin has six points (two goals, four assists) in his past three games and has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in nine games this season, which is tied with Crosby for the team lead.

Caggiula (undisclosed) was also activated from injured reserve. … Sheahan will make his Penguins debut after being acquired, along with a fifth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, from the Detroit Red Wings for forward Scott Wilson and a 2018 third-round pick on Saturday. Pittsburgh placed goalie Antti Niemi on waivers (he was claimed by the Florida Panthers) and recalled DeSmith from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on Monday. He will back up Murray.
