Avalanche team scope

Defenseman Fedor Tyutin will be out for the Colorado Avalanche because of a lower-body injury sustained in a 4-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. Eric Gelinas will replace Tyutin and make his season debut. "He played pretty well in exhibition (games)," coach Jared Bednar said of Gelinas. "He can give us a little bit of offense from the blue line. He's got a great shot. He's going to be a hungry guy coming in for his first one. We'll miss a little bit of what (Tyutin) brings. He's been a real solid defender and puck mover for us back there. He's had a real good start to the season, but for another guy to be able to jump in the lineup and bring us a little bit of energy will be nice at the end of a road trip." Colorado is 2-1-0 on its four-game road trip, which began with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday and was followed by a 3-0 loss against the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. "This is a big one for us," Bednar said. "We're trying to find the consistency in our game. We weren't good in Washington, and then we were good in Tampa. It's important that we establish our base of play every night and give ourselves a chance to win."

Panthers team scope

Forward Kyle Rau, recalled Friday from Springfield of the American Hockey League, will replace injured Jussi Jokinen alongside Vincent Trocheck and Reilly Smith on the second line for the Florida Panthers. Jokinen will miss the game because of a lower-body injury and coach Gerard Gallant said he is day-to-day. Rau, a third-round pick (No. 91) in the 2011 NHL Draft, played in nine games with the Panthers last season and did not have a point. "He played real good hockey with us last year when he got called up and works hard and he competes and he goes to the tough areas for a small guy (5-foot-8, 178 pounds)," Gallant said. "We really like the way he plays and he's a smart hockey player. He should fit in real good with those guys." Jaromir Jagr, who became the third player in NHL history to score 750 goals on Thursday joining Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe, did not take part in morning skate but will be in the lineup.
