Ryane Clowe Named Head Coach of Newfoundland Growlers

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today Ryane Clowe has been named Head Coach of the club's ECHL affiliate, the Newfoundland Growlers.

The St. John's, Newfoundland native has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils. In his new position, Clowe will work closely with the Maple Leafs development staff and receive personnel support from the Maple Leafs hockey operations staff as the Growlers open their inaugural season in October of 2018 . He is slated to attend the Maple Leafs development camp next week as well as training camp with the Maple Leafs and Marlies in September.

The club will play eight preseason games in total with one neutral site game, three games at home and four games on the road. Toronto will open their preseason schedule with a game in Lucan, Ontario, as part of Kraft Hockeyville 2018. This year's preseason schedule includes home-and-home series with four Atlantic Division rivals - the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings.

Maple Leafs Announce New ECHL Affiliation

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the club has agreed to an affiliation with the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL beginning in 2018-19.

The Growlers replace the Orlando Solar Bears as the Maple Leafs' secondary affiliate and the primary affiliate of the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies. Orlando served as a Maple Leafs affiliate from 2013-18. This season, 10 players appeared for both the Marlies and the Solar Bears.

Leafs Name Laurence Gilman Assistant General Manager

Kyle Dubas, General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that Laurence Gilman has been named Assistant General Manager. Gilman will share the role along with current Assistant General Manager Brandon Pridham.

"Laurence provides terrific experience to our management team," said Dubas. "His 20-plus years in the NHL have seen him manage nearly every type of department in professional hockey and have success doing so."

"Adding Laurence to our front office and having him work alongside Brandon Pridham as an Assistant General Manager gives our program great depth and breadth of knowledge across all areas of hockey operations. We feel very fortunate to have both Brandon and Laurence as key parts of our executive team."
