SERIES RECAPS:
THE QUICK HITS:
It All Comes Down To This, Again:Both teams enter tonight's contest having won a Game 7 in their opening round. Carolina used a three-point effort from Max Domi to take a 3-2 victory over Boston on May 14, while New York moved past Pittsburgh after an overtime goal from Artemi Panarin gave them a 4-3 win.
Getting It Done On Home Ice:The Canes are 7-0 at PNC Arena thus far this postseason. They have outscored their opponents 25-8 during that span, including a 7-2 differential against New York. Dating back to January 15 of the regular season they are 25-4-3 in Raleigh, outscoring their opposition 102-57.
Winning The Special Teams Battle:New York comes into tonight 5/18 on the power play thus far this series. Including a two-goal effort Saturday, the man advantage has been difference in several contests now for the Rangers. They've scored on the power play in four consecutive first periods. Meanwhile, Carolina has struggled to gain any traction at all while up a man. They're 1/14 in the series, including an 0/3 effort in Game 6. Can the Canes remain disciplined tonight, or will the Rangers use their success on special teams to earn a spot in the next round?
Father Finn Bouncing Back:Antti Raanta was pulled for the first time as a member of the Canes in Saturday's Game 6 after allowing three goals on the first 12 shots of the game. Rod Brind'Amour said both post-game and Sunday that he's sure that Raanta would like to have at least the first two goals back, but the team in front of him allowed too many Grade A-chances. Raanta is expected to start once again tonight for Carolina after Pyotr Kochetkov played 36:36 in relief.
ESPN Broadcast:Sean McDonough, Ray Ferraro and Emily Kaplan will be the broadcast talent for tonight's ESPN telecast.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
What Are We Wearing?:The Canes will be wearing black tonight and for every home game in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
More Milestones:Sebastian Aho, who set the franchise record for most assists and points in Tuesday night's Game 4, is now just two goals shy of passing Eric Staal for the most goals in team postseason history. Jaccob Slavin is two assists away from passing Staal for the second-most assists in team playoff history.
