Preseason Thus Far (2-3)

Here Come The Big Dogs

  • After trotting out a lineup filled with young players and skaters on tryouts last night, this evening's roster is expected to be pretty close to what the Canes will roll with for their regular season opener Wednesday against Ottawa.

In Net

  • Antti Raanta and Pyotr Kochetkov both got work in last night at Bridgestone Arena, meaning that Frederik Andersen is expected to get the start tonight. With Yaniv Perets as his backup, "Zilla" stopped 13 out of 14 in his lone preseason appearance thus far, earning a win over Tampa Bay on September 26.

"Veteran" Rule

  • As a reminder, NHL teams must dress at least eight “veterans” in each preseason contest. “Veterans” are skaters who played 30 NHL games the previous season, goalies who dressed in 50 NHL games or played in 30 NHL games the previous year, any player who has played 100+ NHL games, or a current year first-round pick.

Injury Updates

  • Forward Vasily Ponomarev will "miss some time" due to a knee injury suffered on the first day of training camp (9/22), per Rod Brind'Amour.
  • Forward Andrei Svechnikov remains skating in a no-contact jersey as he makes his way back from ACL surgery in March.
  • Forward Ryan Suzuki suffered an upper-body injury versus Nashville on Thursday, October 5.

What Are We Wearing?

  • Carolina will be wearing their white uniforms for all six preseason games.
