RALEIGH, NC - Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce will participate in the Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team's practice at PNC Arena tonight at 7 p.m.

The Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team is preparing for the 2018 Toyota-USA Hockey Disabled Hockey Festival in Chicago. The festival will take place April 12-15 and is the largest disabled hockey event of its kind. The Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team was founded in 2010 and has programs based in Raleigh, Charlotte, Fort Bragg and Winston-Salem. Carolina Sled Hockey is a co-ed team of disabled youth and adult athletes from across North Carolina and is comprised of active-duty military personnel, veterans, cancer survivors, amputees and those born with a congenital disorder. Last year, the Carolina Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team won the national championship at the 2017 Disabled Hockey Festival in San Jose.
Pesce, 23, recorded 19 points (3g, 16a) in 65 games with the Hurricanes this season. The Tarrytown, NY, native scored the game-winning goal on Feb. 1 against Montreal and played in his 200th NHL/Hurricanes game on Feb. 13 against Los Angeles. Pesce was selected by the Hurricanes in the third round, 66th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft and has earned 55 points (9g, 46a) in 216 career NHL games.
