After starting the new year off right with a win at home, the Nashville Predators have embarked on a season-long, six-game road trip, and it begins tonight in Detroit against the Red Wings. It's the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season; Nashville will host Detroit next month.
The Preds have gotten back to their winning ways as of late, rattling off two straight after dropping six in a row around the holidays. A 6-3 win in Washington on New Year's Eve was followed up with a 4-0 shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers on Jan. 1. Next, the group will look to get some momentum back on the road, with that win against the Capitals snapping a 10-game skid away from home.
The Predators practiced on Thursday in Nashville and we're joined by Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons and Yannick Weber, all of whom remain on Injured Reserve. Forsberg and Weber sported non-contact jerseys for the session, while Sissons was in a regular color.

Last Time Out:
Juuse Saros made 32 saves on New Year's Day to blank the Flyers and record his second shutout of the season. Viktor Arvidsson scored twice in the win, while Craig Smith and Rocco Grimaldi also tallied. Grimaldi's was his second in two games.
Ryan Johansen continues to lead the Preds in scoring with 35 points, followed by Roman Josi with 29 points and Mattias Ekholm with 25. Smith and Arvidsson both have 11 goals on the season, while Ryan Hartman has nine.
The Opposition:
Detroit has lost six-straight games, including a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Flames on Wednesday. Dylan Larkin leads the club with 17 goals and 39 points, followed by Gustav Nyquist with 34 points. Andreas Athanasiou has 14 goals and 24 points to his name, and Jimmy Howard is 10-10-5 in net with a .918 save percentage.
All-Time Meetings:
Nashville is 35-47-(4)-9 all-time against Detroit, including a 14-26-(2)-6 record on the road. This will be Nashville's second game at Little Caesars Arena - the Preds claimed the first, 3-2, on Feb. 20, 2018.
Tonight marks the 96th meeting between the two teams, Nashville's most games played against a non-Central Division opponent. Since Detroit moved to the Eastern Conference (and out of the Central Division) at the start of the 2013-14 season, the Preds are 3-6-1 against their former division rivals.
Notables Versus Detroit:
Nick Bonino tallied a career-high four assists on March 26, 2016, versus Detroit. He has eight points (3g-5a) in 15 career games against the Red Wings.
Ryan Ellis (12/26/11), Roman Josi (11/26/11), Filip Forsberg (4/14/13) and Anthony Bitetto (1/17/15) made their NHL debuts against the Red Wings, and Ryan Johansen scored his first career NHL goal versus Detroit on Oct. 25, 2011.
Calle Jarnkrok was acquired from Detroit along with Patrick Eaves and a second-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft (traded to San Jose; San Jose selected Julius Bergman) in exchange for David Legwand on March 5, 2014.
