In November, we kicked off Hockey Fights Cancer, an initiative created by the NHL and the NHLPA to unite the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. We raised over $100,000 for the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily, which raises funds and awareness for the vital cancer research that takes place at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. Our goal is to encourage every single Preds fan to contribute to this campaign - through a donation, purchasing an item at our HFC store, posting who you fight for or visiting our HFC social posts.
We are proud to partner with the NHL and their league-wide initiative that will celebrate the fight against cancer as we host Hockey Fights Cancer night on Saturday, March 6! We encourage all fans to join us in our celebration; here are a few ways you can be involved:
2. Bid on items in our silent auction by texting PREDS to 76278. The auction will be live Friday, March 5 and will feature lavender jerseys worn by the Nashville Predators team, plates decorated by patients at Children's Hospital, player headshots drawn by Children's Hospital patients and much more.
3. Purchase items from the Hockey Fights Cancer store. This includes a blanket or water bottle that will be donated to a patient going through treatment. Store closes on March 19.
4. Purchase your own locker room name plate with your name or the name of a Nashville Predators player. Limited autographed nameplates available from the following players: Josi, Johansen, Forsberg, Duchene, Rinne, and Fabbro. Store closes on March 19.
5. Purchase a "lavender I Fight For Foam Puck" in honor, or in memory, of someone fighting cancer. For $10, one puck will be shipped to the buyer and one will be added to the Hockey Fights Cancer net at Bridgestone Arena, which represents all those we are fighting for in Smashville.
Our commitment to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research is unwavering. With your help, we are working to raise $36,500 for the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. In honor of No. 35 Pekka Rinne we are asking fans to make a $35 donation to help us reach our goal.
For just three weeks (until March 19), fans may shop special Preds and Hockey Fights Cancer merchandise. This campaign will directly benefit the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily. Our goal is to raise $36,500 through this merchandise.
Through the Smashville Donates campaign, the Predators Foundation is excited to offer fans a variety of opportunities to join the fight against cancer, both virtually and in person. Each donation, no matter the size, will directly benefit the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily.
For $10 you can purchase your 'I FIGHT FOR' purple foam puck in honor, or in memory, of someone fighting cancer. You will receive a puck to keep and one will be added to our Hockey Fights Cancer bin - which represents all those we're fighting for in Smashville.
Launched during the 2013-14 season, the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily is an initiative of the Nashville Predators Foundation and two of the team's icons, goaltender Pekka Rinne and former captain Shea Weber.
The 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily works with Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Additionally, the initiative coordinates with the team to host a series of opportunities that enable the hospital's young patrons and their families to get a special dose of the Smashville hockey experience.
The 365 Fund was born from a desire of Rinne and Weber to make an impact in the Middle Tennessee community. Both professional athletes, and historically two of the most recognizable faces of the team, Weber noted that he and Rinne, "were in a unique situation where we could help, and were thankful to brighten up the lives of kids going through some of their toughest days."
The 365 Fund has two suites, funded by Rinne and Weber, which host special guests from Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and their families at Predators home games throughout the season.
This family-friendly night out is a rare treat for most of the young visitors, many of which cannot handle the otherwise hustle and bustle of the crowded arena. Different opportunities to interact with the team, such as locker room meet and greets, further enhance this experience. Seasonal hospital visits by the team, and various fundraisers conducted by the Nashville Predators Foundation, serve to bolster the spirit and resources of the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund presented by Twice Daily.
