SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender Cooper Black from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Tuesday.

Originally joining the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2024, the 25-year-old rookie was inked to a two-year, two-way contract extension on June 8, 2026.

Manning the crease in a career-high 42 games with the Checkers in 2025-26, the Michigan native registered a 25-13-4 record, 2.47 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

“Happy with the young goaltender,” head coach Paul Maurice said in the preseason. “You know he's in his third year now and he's starting to make those positive signs.”

In two games with Charlotte this season, Black, who stands an imposing 6-foot-8 between the pipes, has gone 1-1-0 with a 3.01 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.

Sitting at 2-2-2 standings, the Panthers will close out their road back-to-back with a battle against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena tonight at 6:15 p.m. ET.
