Prospect Spotlight

Mike Benning

First one in the books.

Making his NHL debut on Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Benning logged 16:49 time on ice and earned his first career point with an assist on Sam Reinhart’s overtime winner.

“Everyone made me feel welcome and just going out, a lot of emotion out there," Benning said after his first NHL game. It’s a dream come true.”

Having a stellar season with in the AHL prior to the call up, the 2020 fourth-round (95th overall) pick leads all Charlotte Checkers defensemen in goals (8), assists (23), points (31), and shots (110).

Tyler Muszelik

The 2022 sixth-round (189th overall) pick has been kicking between the pipes this season for the 15th ranked University of Connecticut.

Owning a .929 save percentage, Muszelik ranks sixth in the nation in the category.

Posting a career-high 50 saves against Maine on Feb. 14, the senior netminder also has three shutouts on the season.
