The Florida Panthers and the Panthers IceDen are proud to announce the newly-rebranded Tier II travel hockey program, the Coral Springs Makos. The rebranding of the Makos serves as an important step in uniting all of the South Florida hockey rinks and hockey programs underneath the Florida Panthers umbrella. This unification will ensure that all South Florida travel and recreational hockey programs, players and families can be confident knowing that they have the full support of their local NHL team behind them. Additionally, the transition to the Coral Springs Makos comes at a time of a renewed commitment to the city of Coral Springs which can now boast a competitive hockey program under its name.
The Panthers will continue to work as leaders in the local community by concentrating their efforts on improving and growing the game at the local level. All programming and initiatives are implemented and made possible by the strong working partnerships built between each local facility and the Florida Panthers. The primary goal of the Florida Panthers is to grow the game of hockey in all of its forms, primarily through grassroots initiatives with the support of each local facility, the NHL, NHLPA, USA Hockey and SAHOF. The Panthers have worked towards these efforts through both the children's 'Learn To Play' and 'Adult Learn To Play' programs, introducing over 500 new youth players and 180 new adult players each year.
