On Sunday, Oct. 30 at 8 p.m., FOX Sports Florida, the regional television home of the Florida Panthers, will debut an all-new episode of "Inside the Panthers" upon conclusion of the Panthers vs. Detroit Red Wings game.
Join FOX Sports Florida for the premiere of "Inside the Panthers: West Point." We travelled with the team to provide an all-access look at their history-making preseason trip to the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. While the Cats have made previous trips to West Point, this year's visit featured the very first professional game played at Tate Rink in front of a sellout crowd of servicemen and women, their families and fans. The Panthers franchise has a number of graduates from the prestigious institution including Owner Vincent Viola, Team President and CEO Matt Caldwell, Chief of Staff Sean McCaffrey and Assistant General Manager Eric Joyce. All of them are featured in the episode, where they provide an added level of perspective and insight that is equal parts nostalgia and business, as the organization came together for a hockey game and to show their appreciation for everyone in the West Point community.
The show also features US Army Hockey Coach Brian Riley, who is the third Riley to be standing on the Army bench since 1950. Brian carries a long family legacy of building leaders and champions. In this episode, he speaks to the Panthers about the legacy of two fallen heroes in Major Thomas Kennedy and Lieutenant Derek Hines. The heartfelt speech was one of the moments that helped forge a bond that has carried into the regular season. Panthers fans will also watch as Head Coach Gerard Gallant announced the team captains at Trophy Point, a place that George Washington once stood overlooking the Hudson River. Derek MacKenzie, Jussi Jokinen and Aaron Ekblad were all given jerseys in front of their teammates.
