SUNRISE, Fla. -The Florida Panthers announced today that the 'Heroes Among Us' Program will return for a sixth season. Beginning in 2013, the 'Heroes Among Us' program has been a fundamental initiative for the Panthers organization.

Recognizing stand out individuals in the South Florida Community who have served and sacrificed, the Panthers honor one Military Hero at each of the 41 home games at BB&T Center.
The Heroes Among Us Program allows the Panthers to honor someone who has served, or who currently serves, in any branch of the military.
"The Heroes Among Us Program is a pillar of our organization and has been since the moment ownership launched the initiative in 2013," said Panthers President and CEOMatthew Caldwell. "We are humbled to have a platform to ensure that veterans receive the recognition they deserve in our community and we're gratified to see this program grow year after year."
The Panthers will honor WWII Veteran Bill Schwartz during their home opener on Thursday Oct. 11 when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at 7 p.m. to kick off the sixth season of the program. Schwartz served during the Invasion of Normandy, fighting on Omaha Beach and has three purple hearts.
