(Edmonton, AB) - As children return to school, September also signals the return of players to the ice as hockey season begins. While the Edmonton Oilers open their season in October on the road in Europe, Oilers Alumni and the Oilers Ladies will be joining classrooms to participate in READ IN Week, helping ignite a passion for reading and celebrate literacy and life-long learning. Every year, Oilers READ IN Week marks a special time of the school year for students in Edmonton and surrounding areas, as this is a unique opportunity for special guests to join the students' classroom and share stories in a fun atmosphere to increase awareness of the importance of reading.
This year, Oilers Alumni and the Oilers Ladies will be visiting select schools for READ IN Week from October 1 - 5. Members of the Orange & Blue Ice Crew will also be participating in select READ IN Week visits.
Focusing on Grades 1 through 3, elementary school teachers in Edmonton and surrounding areas are encouraged to fill out the application form below for the chance to have a member of the Oilers Alumni, Oilers Ladies or Orange & Blue Ice Crew visit their classroom to be part of this exciting educational experience.
Registration begins today, Monday, September 10 and will close on Friday, September 21 at 5:00 PM MT.
