EDMONTON, AB - Oilers captain Connor McDavid has been selected as the NHL's Second Star of the Week after scoring four goals and four assists in four games.
Two of McDavid's four goals last week were game-winners as Edmonton beat Calgary 7-3 on Wednesday, Winnipeg 2-1 on Thursday and Winnipeg again 4-2 on Saturday after dropping a 4-3 decision to Calgary last Monday.
McDavid leads the NHL in points with 60, assists with 39 and is tied for the lead in goals with 21. He's also tied for second in the NHL in game-winning goals with six.
He brings a nine-game point streak into tonight's game in Montreal, scoring seven goals and 13 assists over that span. McDavid is also currently on a three-game multi-point streak.
McDavid's 60 points are the most by any player through his first 34 games of a season since 2002-03 when Mario Lemieux of the Pittsburgh Penguins scored 18 goals and 45 assists.
Calle Jarnkrok of the Nashville Predators was selected as the NHL's First Star of the Week, while Mika Zibanejad of the New York Rangers was named Third Star of the Week.
