EDMONTON, AB - From Nebraska to Northern Sweden, it was a big weekend for Oilers prospects.
In his final game before joining Sweden's U-20 national team ahead of the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton, defence prospect Philip Broberg picked up an assist for Skelleftea in their 6-5 win over Brynas during Saturday's Swedish Hockey League action. The helper gave him two goals and six assists in 23 games, matching his point total in 45 games last season.
Also on Saturday in the SHL, Oilers defenceman Theodor Lennstrom assisted on the equalizer and scored the game-winner for Frolunda in their 3-2 victory over Rogle. The 26-year-old, who signed a one-year contract with Edmonton in April, has four goals and three assists in 16 games this season.
In Sweden's second division, HockeyAllsvenskan, fellow blueline prospect Evan Bouchard picked up an assist on the overtime winner for Sodertalje on Sunday in their 4-3 victory over Vastervik. He now has six goals and 11 assists in 23 games, slotting him second among defencemen in points in the league and tying him for 18th overall.
One of the players Bouchard is tied with in HockeyAllsvenskan scoring just happens to be a fellow Oilers prospect, forward Raphael Lavoie, who has 11 goals and six assists in 22 games with Vasby. He had his four-game goal streak snapped on Saturday in a 4-1 win over Tingsryd, but he did have an assist to extend his point streak to five games.

Carter Savoie continued his scorching start to his NCAA career on Saturday as he scored his fourth goal in three games for Denver in their 4-3 defeat to St. Cloud State in the NCHC pod in Omaha, Nebraska. Edmonton's fourth-round selection at the 2020 NHL Draft also picked up an assist to give him five points, as he's factored in on all but two of Denver's goals to start the season.
Oilers second-round pick in 2018, forward Ryan McLeod, recorded three assists in his last two games with EV Zug in Switzerland's National League to bring him up to three goals and six helpers in 12 games. Both of those matchups were against SC Bern, feature Oilers forward Gaetan Haas, who had a goal and an assist to give him seven points in 12 games.
Finishing up in the KHL, Oilers defence prospect Dmitri Samorukov remains a consistent presence on CSKA Moscow's blueline, averaging almost 18 minutes per game with two goals, six assists and a +19 rating in 31 appearances. On Monday, he was named to Russia's squad that will compete in the Channel One Cup tournament Dec. 17-20.
