EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers regrouped from Monday night's 4-3 defeat in Game 1 of their first-round series with the Los Angeles Kings with an optional skate and team meetings at Rogers Place on Tuesday afternoon.
Head Coach Jay Woodcroft turned the page for his team and put their sights toward Game 2 on Wednesday night, channeling his day-to-day approach and honing in on the day's business of cleaning up areas of emphasis in a method the bench boss hasn't swayed from during his time in Edmonton.
"That's been a theme since [Assistant Coach Dave Manson] and I came up from Bakersfield -- keeping our picture small not worrying about things that happened in the past and taking care of what's immediately under your control, which is your day and the day's business," he said.
"We got better today by physically and mentally recharging. We sat and had a good meeting. We gave our players tools that we think can help them be successful; things they can hang their hat on. Now we want them to show up tomorrow mentally and physically engaged."

The Oilers competed against both the Kings and their own nerves in the opening 10 minutes of the hockey game, falling behind 2-0 in front of an energetic crowd at Rogers Place before finding their footing over the final two-and-a-half periods before the game-winning goal went in off Phillip Danault with 5:14 remaining in regulation.
Players including defenceman Tyson Barrie understand there will be adversity over the course of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and there's an expectation for ebbs and flows in momentum against a well-structured and skilled Kings team.
"We had a good little meeting. Nothing crazy," defenceman Tyson Barrie said. "We talked a little bit on things we can sharpen up on. There's no panic. Give them credit, they played a good game. You're not going to win 16 in a row, so you're going to go through some adversity in the playoffs and I think we've got a good mindset going into tomorrow.
Forward Zach Hyman spoke to Edmonton's ability to bounceback from losses over the course of the regular season and that he expects no different from he and his teammates in the playoffs when Game 2 gets going from Rogers Place on Wednesday night.

"It's Game 1 of the playoffs. Everybody's excited and you want to win the first game, but it's a long series," forward Zach Hyman said. "Don't overthink it, don't overreact, watch the tape. It was a close game. We got down 2-0 early and we battled back in that game and a chance to win, and we've been really good at bouncing back. We looked at video and we'll be ready for tomorrow."
After a solid session breaking down the game tape into the details the Oilers need to correct, the players want nothing more than to get right back into game action.
"I don't think we played poorly in Game 1, I just think we didn't play our best. So I think we have another level to get to," Hyman added. "In the playoffs when you lose a game, you just want to play another game as quick as you can because you don't like that feeling. So we'll be hungry. We'll be a hungry group tomorrow and we're excited about the opportunity."
Coach Woodcroft is using all the time at his disposal to consider any lineup changes, including in goal, where he's come to a determination on who'll start in goal for Game 2. But the bench boss wasn't keen on revealing any information on Tuesday.
"Yes I do know, and we'll wait until tomorrow most likely to share that," he said. "We've got time and we'll use it."
