Rookie goalie Igor Shesterkin will start for the Rangers, who are 5-1-0 in the past six games and have won six in a row on the road. The Rangers are 3-0-0 against the Hurricanes this season, all with Henrik Lundqvist in goal, and 30-6-0 against Carolina since Feb. 22, 2011. They are six points behind the Hurricanes and New York Islanders for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.

Gauthier played 7:18 in his Rangers debut, a 6-3 win at the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. He was acquired from Carolina for defenseman prospect
Joey Keane
on Tuesday. … Brind'Amour said Martinook would return to the lineup "soon, for sure" but cautioned that the forward has had just one practice after missing six games.
