The Devils dropped to third place after their 5-3 loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, one point behind the Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals. A Devils win and a Blue Jackets loss against the Arizona Coyotes on Saturday would put New Jersey back on top.
The Rangers, who are sixth in the division, are trying to win their third game in a set of four straight against Metropolitan Division teams. They allowed two goals in the final 3:32 of the third period and lost 4-2 at the Washington Capitals on Friday. They had won 5-1 against the Carolina Hurricanes at the Garden on Dec. 1 and won 4-3 at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday.
Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid will start. He made 29 saves in a 3-2 win at the Garden on Oct. 14. Henrik Lundqvist will start for the Rangers after playing in Washington.

Devils forward Marcus Johansson has at least one point in each of the past two games, his first points in four games since returning from a month-long absence because of a concussion.
Rangers forward J.T. Miller has points four points (one goal, three assists) during a four-game point streak.
