Jets team scope

Michael Hutchinson will start in goal for the Winnipeg Jets. In his five starts this season, Hutchinson has given up less than three goals once, when he made 37 saves and shut out the Colorado Avalanche 1-0 on Oct. 28. Forwards Marko Dano and Andrew Copp each will make his season debut on Thursday. Copp was recalled from Manitoba of the American Hockey League on Wednesday. Winnipeg is 0-for-13 on the power play in its past three games, but is 8-for-8 on the penalty kill through that span. "We've got six veterans out tonight, so we've got a young lineup," coach Paul Maurice said. "The pieces will probably move around a little bit. I love the back-to-back against the same team. We like them from a coaching point of view because you feel like you get to spend some time to fix your game, so it's a better challenge."

Capitals team scope

Braden Holtby, 9-3-1 in his career against Winnipeg, will be in goal for the Washington Capitals in the second game of a home-and-home with the Jets; the first was a 3-2 Capitals victory in Winnipeg on Tuesday. Washington has won three consecutive games and returns home after a four-game, eight-day road trip where it went 3-1-0. Coach Barry Trotz said there is a little bit of a rebound period after being away from home for an extended period. "It's a little bit of a trap game," Trotz said. "You always hear coaches talk about it, you go on a road trip and you have a little bit of success and you finally get home and you think, 'Oh, it's going to be easy.' It really isn't."
