Game Day: Preds vs. Flyers

The Predators are back out east and looking for two points in the City of Brotherly Love tonight when they face the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
It's already the second and final meeting of the season between the two foes - Nashville won a wildly entertaining home opener against Philadelphia on Oct. 10, a 6-5 victory that saw the Preds allow five straight goals after being up 3-0, only to come back to score twice in the final two minutes of regulation.
That game started Nashville's current streak which has seen them collect points in four straight outings (3-0-1 record). Nashville Head Coach Peter Laviolette, who took the Flyers to the 2010 Stanley Cup Final, believes his team continues to improve in each game, and his players are pointing to one reason why.

"The consistency of our game plan has been there the last four games, and we're a very confident group when we're on the same page there and working for each other," Preds center Ryan Johansen said. "It's been fun getting results while playing the way we want to play."

Last Time Out:
After allowing the game's first goal, Nashville scored four unanswered to top the Avalanche by a 4-1 final on Tuesday night at Bridgestone Arena. Viktor Arvidsson tallied his third of the season before Roman Josi, Colton Sissons and Austin Watson each potted their first of the campaign. Alexei Emelin collected two assists - his first two points as a member of the Preds - and Pekka Rinne stopped 20 of 21 shots to collect his third win on the season.
The win gave the Predators seven out of a possible eight points in their last four games and was their seventh consecutive victory over Colorado.
With two assists on the night, Filip Forsberg now leads the Preds with nine points (5g-4a), followed by P.K. Subban with seven (1g-6a) and Arvidsson with five (3g-2a). Former Flyer Scott Hartnell has also scored three times this season.
The Opposition:
The Flyers are off to a 4-2-0 start, including a 5-1 win over Florida on Tuesday and an 8-2 drubbing of Washington last Saturday. Defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (1g-9a) and forward Jakub Voracek (10a) co-lead the team in points with 10, followed by Claude Giroux with nine (4g-5a). Wayne Simmonds leads the club with five goals, while Giroux, Sean Couturier and Valtteri Filppula have four apiece. Brian Elliott is 3-1-0 on the season between the pipes; Michal Neuvirth is 1-1-0.
All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 10-9-9-3 all-time against the Flyers and have won two straight against them. Nashville has also earned at least one point in its last four games at the Wells Fargo Center.
Against Philadelphia:
P.K. Subban made his NHL debut against the Flyers on Feb. 12, 2010, as a member of the Montreal Canadiens. Ryan Johansen set a single-game career high in points (4) and assists (4) at Philadelphia on Nov. 14, 2014, and Filip Forsberg has eight points (5g-3a) in seven career games against Philadelphia, including three multi-point efforts.
Power-Play Prowess:
Roman Josi's power-play goal vs. Colorado was Nashville's eighth this season, moving the team into a tie for first in the NHL in the category with New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Toronto. Nashville's power play is converting at 28.6 percent (8-for-28), tied with Minnesota, San Jose and Toronto at second in the NHL, and the Preds have scored a power-play goal in four consecutive games and in five of their last six.
