Anaheim, which ranks 30th in the League goals-per game (2.40), has scored 10 goals in their past two games after totaling 10 in their previous four.
The Ducks will be without forward Rickard Rakell, who led the team with 34 goals last season. He injured his ankle in the third period of 4-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
The Hurricanes will be without center Jordan Staal, who sustained a concussion in a 5-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday. Carolina has scored two goals in their past three games (0-2-1).

Players to watch

Carolina forward Andrei Svechnikov scored in a 2-1 overtime loss against the Ducks on Nov. 30. The No. 2 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, Svechnikov leads rookies with 73 shots on goal.
Ducks center Adam Henrique has six points (one goal, five assists) in a six-game point streak, one shy of his NHL high with New Jersey Devils from Nov. 25-Dec. 8. 2011.

McElhinney left practice early on Thursday. Nedeljkovic and Maenalanen were recalled from Charlotte of the American Hockey League on Friday. … Sprong, who was acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday, will replace Rakell on the top line. ... Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said there is no timetable for Rakell's return.
